HYDERABAD: To measure accurate quantity of water supply, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply said it will install Radio Frequency water meters. The proposal to install the RF water meters came up after officials estimated that 4 % of total drinking water supplied is going unaccounted. Authorities said lack of water meters, non-functioning meters, leakages from house service connections and illegal water connections are a big problem. "The Water Board has decided to install new RF meters by replacing the existing automated water meters at two selected areas, including Jubilee Hills and Chintal Basthi in O&M Division-VI (S R Nagar)," said water board chief general manager-Revenue, S Anand Swaroop. "Another advantage of installing the RF meter is that billing can be based on near real-time consumption. Periodical visits to check water meters will also happen," Swaroop said.
